DHL 'Most Pan-European' Contract Logistics Supplier
Deutsche Post World Net has bundled all express and logistics services under the DHL umbrella. The integration is showing first results. According to Transport Intelligence, DHL is the most pan-European contract logistics provider. The findings, contained in its recent publication, European Logistics Leaders 2004, are based on a scorecard model which rated logistics companies on their position in the German, UK, French, Italian, Spanish, Benelux, and Nordics markets.
John Manners-Bell, Chief Analyst at Transport Intelligence, commented that the index and rankings give a clearer picture of the strength of the major contract logistics companies on a pan-European basis. He commented: "DHL Solutions may only be the fifth largest company in Europe in terms of overall revenues, but it has a strong coverage right across the continent. It is particularly strong in Germany, Europe's biggest economy, Benelux, the Nordics and Spain with significant operations in all the other major markets. Most logistics providers derive the majority of their revenues from their domestic markets. However in addition to a strong presence in Germany, DHL Solutions acquisition programme has given it strong market positions in all the key European markets."
According to Bernd H. Flickinger, COO of DHL Solutions, the ranking is a result of the strategic development in the last years. "We already have a good coverage of both European countries and industry sectors. DHL is working on the further augmentation of regional presence and capabilities network. Our target is to close with spots in Europe and at the end to be the preferred Lead Logistics Provider with global coverage."
