DHL Launches 'Go Green Academy'

New Europe-Wide Environmental Initiative

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, announced today a new European-wide environmental training initiative aimed at advancing environmental awareness across the region.

The DHL 'Go Green Academy' will train DHL management from countries across Europe to develop environmental competence on a strategic as well as operational level in their day-to-day operations. The training aims to ensure DHL continues to achieve sustainable growth.

Training courses at the Go Green Academy will last for over fifteen months and will be tailored to meet the needs of individual managers. Trainees will be assessed through regular examinations whilst an individual project will give participants the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of the environmental issues facing DHL. The courses are to be run by the Nordic DHL team who lead the company in developing their competencies in environmental strategies and processes.

Karin Strömqvist-Bååthe, Corporate Citizenship Manager at DHL, comments: "A regular training course can only take you so far. The DHL Go Green Academy will enable managers throughout DHL to gain a real understanding of how being environmentally aware can be both good for the environment and good for business. Each course is specifically tailored to each individual so that when they return to their business unit they can begin to implement real change."

Johan Ununger, Doctor of Forestry Genetics, who has worked closely with DHL to develop the courses, comments: "The courses at the Go Green Academy show a serious commitment by DHL to take environmental issues very seriously. Graduates of the course will understand how going green is necessary to ensure long term growth and profitability."
